A Week of Women!

A Week of Women In Minnesota.png

I am looking around and seeing SO MANY amazing women & female identifying artists (like myself) creating so much goodness right now!! OH MY GOODNESS! I must share and lift up this female community!

Mythology: on the Pagan calendar we’ve closed the season of Imbolic, the Goddess Brigid is a deity to invoke in this time - a time of seeking new light, and have entered into the spring equinox.
It’s very synchronistic to me how many female people are sharing new offerings found in this new light, after the darkness, all synchronistically! I can’t help but notice and report.

I’ve compiled their recent creations here, a lil story about how much I love them / their background, and links to their artistry or upcoming events!
They are grouped by art area, labeled above each section.

Lydia Liza

I AM STOKED for your upcoming album, and this BRAND SPAKIN’ NEW live music video of the track “Gardenia” - This is such a beautiful rendition, it’s contemplative, aesthetically moody with intricate structures yet performed with such ease. And your usage of tap harmonics at the very end? C’mon!!! <3

You badass you!! ANOTHER new album?!? Minneapolis is so lucky to have you, as a musician, collaborator, and educator at The Music Lab, the music school she co-founded!
Her newly release single “Inebriated” is The Current’s Song of the Day (April 17th)

Her album release with Humbird & Graveyard Club @ Cedar Cultural Center happens on on May 31st and you certainly won’t want to miss it!
I specifically love the acoustic arrangement of “Inebriated” Tiny Desk rendition! (video below)

Kerri Joy

Help Kerri Joy "carry joy" to the world!
”As a fiddle player, vocalist, and songwriter, my entire life has been spent in pursuit of bringing a joyfulspirit to my communities through music. Years of playing in bands of all genres (country, pop, funk, jazz, Celtic, and folk) has shaped my musical sensibilities and helped me develop my own sound and style, bringing me to this powerful moment of producing my first self-titled EP.

Time, Space, Spirit
reflects just that. It is an album years in the making, full of the passion that has kept me going through all the twists and turns of a life dedicated to making music. “

Laurel Kelsey Hay / Half Moon Rising Songwriter Showcase

On 4/17 this amazing woman and her partner Ben (sound tech extraordionare!!) hosted Half Moon Rising Songwriter Showcase’s 1st Anniversary Party at Ziggy’s in Stillwater!

I loved being a part of this event and this hootenany showcased over 40 SONGWRITERS!!! How do you even know this many songwriters, let alone get them all in one space in one day?! Many of which were female identifying. I love the Nashville style artist in the round experience, where we all share the same stage, trading songs (and guitars!)
Much love! Thank you for holding & curating an inclusive space!

”This experiential evening is for all of those who wish to develop their Rebirthing Practice and for those new to breathwork. Rebirthing, (Kriya Yoga Breathwork, Energy Breathing, Breathing from the Breath Itself), is a practice of circular, connected breathing that releases cellular memories from the body-opening up space inside of your physical, spiritual and emotional bodies for lightness, truth and love. “
