Artists decorate space, Musicians decorate time.

Maya has been performing in the Twin Cities music community and Midwest for a decade. Various projects include her solo music, her four-piece rock band Illusion Valley, and featured singer with Wookiefoot.

While she feels she is constantly learning, much of her stylistic choices and voice were explored at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley, MN.
There, she studied world music, composition, recording techniques, ear training, music theory, African & Haitian drumming, and choir.

Songwriting began as a tool. She works to balance physical & mental health, which reflect in her music in themes of self care and transmuting pain into power, sorrow into joy, and darkness into light.

In her free time she studies non-violent communication, intersectional feminism, psychology, restorative justice, and philosophy. Maya is an avid yogi, and dreams of living a sustainable existence in a tiny home on wheels.
